Mad Lips 21 and The Last City - Unveiling destiny
Xena and me

There’s a fire within me—one that I’ve recently learned to channel. When I took up kickboxing, it wasn’t just about finding a hobby; it was about finding a way to release the anger I had been carrying for so long. With every punch, I feel stronger and more grounded. It’s funny, though—I didn’t realize until recently that kickboxing is a form of martial art. I’ve never been into martial arts before, but now I’m falling in love with it, and it’s deeply influencing my creative process.

That connection clicked for me because of The Last City: Unveiling Destiny, the sci-fi comic I’ve been pouring my heart and soul into for over a year. The protagonist, Xena, is a fierce warrior, and I’ve realized that her spirit mirrors mine. As I train in kickboxing, I find myself stepping into her shoes. It’s helped me understand her on a deeper level, and it’s given me the discipline to write a story that’s immersive, epic, and unforgettable.

The Vision Behind The Last City

The Last City is more than a comic book to me. It’s a world I’ve built from the ground up, a sprawling multilevel city where the stakes are as high as the skyscrapers above. At its core, this story is about survival, rebellion, and uncovering truths that could change everything.

The city itself is a character in the story. Its gleaming upper levels house the elite, while the shadowy underworld is a dangerous labyrinth for those forced to fight for scraps. It’s here, in the depths of the city, that Xena’s journey begins.

Every detail matters in this world—the architecture, the characters, the technology, and the emotions driving the story. I want readers to feel like they’re standing alongside Xena, fighting her battles, uncovering secrets, and forging a path in a city where hope feels like a luxury.

The Challenges of Crafting Fight Scenes

Writing fight scenes has been one of my biggest challenges. I want every battle to feel intense, raw, and unforgettable. It’s not just about punches and kicks; it’s about the emotions and strategy behind them. I want readers to feel the sweat, hear the clash of weapons, and experience the exhaustion as if they’re right there in the thick of it.

Kickboxing has been my gateway into understanding the physical and mental strength needed for these moments. The more I train, the more I see the parallels between myself and Xena. Like her, I’m learning to channel my energy into something greater—to create fights that aren’t just physical but also deeply emotional and symbolic.

A Sneak Peek into the Story

Xena isn’t your typical hero. She’s a warrior forged by hardship, fueled by fury, and driven by a destiny she doesn’t fully understand. In The Last City, she finds herself at the center of a rebellion against the elite who have kept secrets buried for generations. But the truth is dangerous, and as Xena uncovers it, she discovers a past that connects her to the very core of the city’s fate.

She’s not alone on this journey. Among her allies is Theo, a skilled pilot and prince who hides his royal lineage while seeking to escape a dark conspiracy tied to his family. Theo’s bravery in the air and on the ground makes him an invaluable ally to Xena. Together, they navigate treacherous alliances and unravel mysteries that push them to their limits.

Adding to Xena’s journey is Blu, her Lumi companion—a glowing alien creature that adapts to her personality and fighting style. Blu not only assists in combat but also becomes a symbol of hope and connection in a world divided by power and greed.

This is Blu, Xena's loyal Lumi companion.

Why This Story Matters

For me, The Last City is about more than just telling a story—it’s about creating an experience. I want readers to connect with the characters, feel the stakes, and immerse themselves in a world that feels alive. Every detail counts, from the smallest gesture in a character’s expression to the sprawling cityscapes and intense battles.

This comic is for everyone—from the smallest fan just discovering sci-fi to the seasoned enthusiast who craves depth and originality. It’s my way of reaching people, of showing them that even in the darkest times, there’s a spark of hope, courage, and resilience.

The Journey Ahead

It’s been a long road to get to this point. The script for the first volume is nearly finished, and soon I’ll begin the painstaking process of drawing every panel. This comic is the biggest masterpiece I’ve ever worked on, and it’s taking everything I have to bring it to life. But I know it will be worth it.

Discipline is key, and kickboxing has taught me that. Like Xena, I’m on a journey—one that demands strength, perseverance, and an unshakable belief in what I’m creating.

I’m not just making a comic book. I’m building a legacy.
